Sweet and savory things are a big deal in my home, especially for Naomi who, next to cake, would do sweet and savory food everyday if she could.
With that in mind, this Mother’s Day, the boys and I are celebrating this special day with Baked French Toast: one with Applegate Natural Chicken and Maple Breakfast Sausage and the other with Applegate Natural Peach Jerk Sausage.
The Baked French Toast version with Chicken and Maple Breakfast Sausage is a favorite in our home. The boys love these sausages, especially the baby who eats them on their own and most times straight out of the box, since they are fully cooked.
But since it’s Mother’s Day this weekend, and to make sure everyone has a little of what they like, I’m making two versions.
The version with the Peach Jerk Sausage is right up Naomi’s alley—full of custard-y goodness, sweet cinnamon flavors and rippled with Applegate Natural Peach Jerk Sausage. I know, I know—peach, jerk sausage? Trust me, it makes the dish! The peach rounds out the sweetness, while the spices give the dish an added punch in flavor.
But if jerk spices aren’t your thing, you can definitely stick with the Chicken and Maple Breakfast Sausage.
Next to the taste, I'm bookmarking this Applegate recipe because it's easy enough to assemble with the kids, and you can make it the night before. How awesome is that? And pssst . . . fast forward a few months and this would make a great holiday brunch dish—go ahead, bookmark this!
Now that we have the food handled for Mother’s Day, it’s time to celebrate the moms in your life!
